Terms & house rules

1. Who you're booking with

SIGEYRA is run by Nadun Vishwanath, Thennakoon Road, Ehalagala, Sigiriya 21120, Sri Lanka.

2. Bookings and payment

• A booking is confirmed when we've replied to confirm it. To hold your dates, contact us for details.
• Payment is by cash or bank transfer. We don't take cards at the guest house.
• Prices are per room per night, include all taxes, and are the ones we confirmed to you in writing. Prices may change by season.
• Cancelling or changing dates follows our cancellation policy.
• If you booked on Booking.com or Agoda, their terms and cancellation rules apply to the booking itself. The house rules below still apply at the guest house.

3. Check-in

• Check-in is from 14:00 to 22:00, and check-out from 05:00 to 11:00.
• Every adult guest shows a passport or national ID at check-in. We're required to record it in our guest register.
• Only guests named on the booking can stay. Visitors aren't allowed.

4. House rules

• No smoking inside. The verandah and garden are fine.
• SIGEYRA is quiet all day, so please keep noise low, especially at night. The other room may have guests, and so do our neighbours.
• No parties or events without asking us first.
• No pets.
• Please don't feed the monkeys or peacocks. They learn quickly and come back for more.
• Your key card switches the lights and A/C on, and off when you leave, so please take it with you when you go out.

5. Damage and lost key cards

Accidents happen, so just tell us. We'll only ask you to pay for damage beyond normal wear, at the actual repair or replacement cost, and we'll show you what it is first. A lost key card is charged at check-out. Ask us for the amount.

6. Children

Children are welcome. Parents are responsible for them, including around the garden and on the roads. Children under 6 can stay in their parents' room. Contact us for details.

7. Tours, drivers and safaris

We're happy to arrange drivers, safaris, the village tour and other trips. They're run by independent local operators, not by us. We choose people we trust, but the operator is responsible for the trip itself, and you pay them directly.

8. Your belongings and safety

• Keep valuables and passports locked in your room or with you.
• Wild elephants sometimes cross the roads around Sigiriya after dark. Don't walk on unlit roads at night. We'll call you a tuk tuk.
• We're not responsible for loss or harm unless it's caused by our own negligence. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Sri Lankan consumer law.

9. If something goes wrong

Tell us straight away, while you're here, so we can fix it. If we can't put it right, we'll talk about a fair refund for the affected nights.

If the guest house can't host you because of something outside anyone's control (flooding, a curfew, a power failure across the area), we'll talk with you about moving your dates or a refund.

10. This website

• We keep prices, opening times and travel information up to date, but they can change. Things like ticket prices for Sigiriya Rock are set by others, so check before you go.
• Photos and text on this site are ours. Please don't reuse them without asking.
• How we handle your information is in our privacy policy.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. If we disagree about something, we'll try to sort it out by talking first.
